Dear Dolores Families,
I am honored and thrilled to announce that I will be the new Principal of Dolores Elementary for the remainder of the school year and return again for the 2023-2024 school year. Dolores has been near and dear to the heart of my family for decades, and when the opportunity arose this past year to join this wonderful community, there was no hesitation.
I began my 17 year educational career in Farmersville, Texas. I then made the move to suburban Dallas where I was a teacher, coach, and eventually administrator in Richardson ISO. Most recently, I continued my administrative career in the Plano ISO. My passion for education was inspired by the many fantastic teachers I had growing up, as well as my parents and grandparents who have over 115 years of experience in public education.
I earned a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, as well as an Educational Administrative Certification at Sam Houston State University, where I also had the unique opportunity to be a member of the coaching staff. Most recently, I have served as the Interim Principal at Dolores Elementary.
I am the proud father of a large blended family of 6. Our oldest is a freshman and our youngest is in the Toddler Room at Teddy Bear. My wife, Cheri, has had family in Dolores for over a century, including a great great aunt who taught at Dolores Elementary School for over thirty years. I am beyond excited to share your family’s journey at Dolores Elementary.
There are so many things that make Dolores Elementary a shining star. Among them are your
precious students, our dedicated staff, and wonderfully supportive families. My desire for Dolores Elementary is a dynamic partnership with all of our families in order to support our commitment to educational excellence, innovation, and inclusive school community.
I am grateful for the trust you have put in us and the chance to serve your children.
Sincerely,
Matt Walker
