Greetings Wonderful Dolores Elementary Families,

WOW!  What an awesome first week of school we had here at Dolores Elementary School!  It was very exciting to see the student’s smiling faces each morning as they arrived and each afternoon on their way home.  When I was in the classrooms, the level of learning was high and we were definitely “constructing” their futures through lots of hands-on activities, engagement, and routine building activities.  If you haven’t yet, please give a great big “SHOUT OUT” to the amazing teachers and staff here at DES.  They rocked the first week of school right alongside the students!

As we begin and our routines get set there are a few things I wanted to remind you about.  First, if you are dropping your child off in the morning you must remain with them until staff is on duty at 7:30.  We do not have supervision prior to this time and I want our students to be safe and cared for and we can provide that at 7:30am.   Students are welcome to eat breakfast (FREE) each morning or play outside on the playground.  If you have any questions regarding drop up, please reach out.

Pick up time is another example of lots of moving parts and safety is my main concern.  We have 3 lanes of traffic that pass through the front of the school.  If you choose to use the carline (the lane next to the curb) please remain in your car at all times.  Please do not park in this lane.  I know that it does not move very quickly, however once the students start to recognize cars and the routine is set to look for you, it will get quicker.  The middle lane is for moving cars and leaving the campus.  The far west lane is for parking and coming to the front of the school to gather your child.  We also have parking in the parking lot and alongside Hillside.

Lastly, please remember to sign the walking field trip permission slip and handbook acknowledgement.  Please have your child turn those into their teacher.  Don’t forget to check the back.  These are both on one sheet of paper.

As always, I am here for you and your child.  I look forward to working with you all year long.  If you have any questions, comments, feedback or concerns please let me know.  My door is always open and I want to ensure that DES stays the best school fit for you and your child.

Kind Regards,

Amanda Hill- Elementary School Principal
