End of October Parent Letter from Principal Walker

Greetings Little Bear Families,

Our first nine week grading period ends today, teachers will be sharing that information along with your student’s growth during Parent-Teacher Conferences next week.  We will also be celebrating our students during an awards assembly next Thursday, October 19th at 8:15 in the Auxiliary Gym. Parents that are attending will need to sign-in, in the Elementary front office and receive a visitor’s sticker.

This Saturday, October 14th Montezuma County CSU extension is hosting an event for those interested in 4H.  Details can be found on MC4H.

Also next week we will be hosting a book fair in the Little Bear Gym.  Students will make their wish list at school to bring home to parents.  Then parents will be able to shop at the book fair during Parent Teacher Conferences.  

October 27, the PTA is hosting a Fall Family Festival, this will be a fun event that you do not want to miss out on. Red Ribbon Week at DES will be October 30, through November 2.  Please note these are NOT the same dates as Secondary.  Red Ribbon Week Flyer and Red Ribbon Contest.  

Lastly, we have had an influx of students bringing toys to school.  From the Dolores Elementary handbook: students are asked to leave toys and other distracting items at home. The trading of personal items such as cards, food, and toys is discouraged. Items that interfere with the educational process will be held and returned to parents upon request…  There are times that teachers will allow these as a reward, should you have questions please contact your child’s teacher.
