Dear Community,

Yesterday, we received word of a confirmed measles case in Montezuma County, affecting a school in Cortez. It’s important to note that we have no known cases of measles in our Dolores School District community. However, the CDPHE press release has indicated that “people in Cortez and Mancos” may have been exposed. To keep our community informed, we want you to know what would happen should a case be confirmed within our school community:

If a measles case is confirmed within Dolores Schools, the public health department will notify us and provide a response protocol. We will follow their protocols and notify parents immediately of our plan. This plan may include a required isolation period for individuals with measles and those who are not immunized, partially immunized, or unable to verify their immunization status. You can find out more about vaccinations and measles on the following website CDPHE Measles Information

We recognize that this news is unsettling. We want you to know that your child’s health and safety are our utmost concern, and we are committed to keeping you informed and updated as quickly as we have information to share. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at any time.

Sincerely,

Alesa Reed- Superintendent
