Note from the Nurse
It has been noted that Dolores Secondary Schools has several cases of Fifth’s disease in the school, this is also known as Hand Foot and Mouth, and is causing illness is a number of our students. This is an unusual finding as Fifth’s disease usually affects younger school aged children and older children only experience minor cold symptoms. Facts about the illness can be found on the CDC website. Children should remain home with uncontrollable cough, sneezing, and fever, although can return to school when the sores on the hands and feet are tolerable with activity. Hand washing is very important during this time, even in healthy children to help prevent illness. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the school nurse at 970-882-4688.
Thank you.
