Katherine Freeman

K-12 Librarian / Secondary RTI & 504 Coordinator / District MTSS Coordinator

My name is Katherine Freeman, and I’m the teacher librarian for the district. I grew up in Virginia and completed a B.A. in Art History, English, and Astronomy at the University of Virginia. After working briefly in publishing and museum education, I decided to pursue a career in teaching. I completed a M.T. in English Education, Gifted Education, and English Language Learning at the University of Virginia. Then I did my student teaching in Charlottesville, Virginia and Belfast, Northern Ireland before moving to southwest Colorado to teach full time. I taught three years in the classroom before moving to the library, and I completed a M.A. in Learning Design and Technology through University of Colorado Denver to earn my Teacher Librarian endorsement. This is my ninth year of teaching and my third year in Dolores. I love that my job lets me work with students of all ages and share my love of reading. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking, and reading.
