Dear Students and Families –
I hope that you all are well and rejuvenated and ready to take on the new school year. Our staff has been working hard to prepare for the year ahead and we are excited to welcome your students back to school. While we were sad to have to say goodbye to some excellent teachers at the end of last year, I am thrilled with the new teachers who have joined us. We continue to have the best teachers in the area!
In preparation for the upcoming school year I would like to share with you some important information.
- August 8th was our first official day of practice for fall sports. Many student athletes have already submitted their athletic paperwork to the high school office and paid their participation fee. Before students will be permitted to participate they must turn in their physical and parent permission forms. Please do not ask our coaches to allow your student to practice if they haven’t turned their paperwork in.
- On August 11th, Dolores High School is hosting an open house from 5:00-7:00pm. Parents and Students will have the opportunity to meet their teachers and locate their classrooms, pick up needed forms, get their class schedules and locker assignments, and sign up for athletics and activities.
- School starts on Monday, August 15th at 7:45am.
- School supplies – DHS does not have a published school supplies list like the middle school and elementary school do. Other than paper, pencils and a binder, supply requirements will be provided to students by each of their teachers.
I am looking forward to getting back to school and welcoming all of our students back next week. My door is always open and I am happy to meet with you anytime. Please contact Susan Burger in the high school office (970-882-7288) to schedule a meeting if you have any questions or concerns or would just like to stop in to talk for a few minutes. I know most of you and I am looking forward to meeting those that are new to the district or just new to the high school.
Best Regards,
Justin Schmitt
