Elementary Guidance Lesson Handouts:

These handouts are educational in nature and a reference for older students and adults.  There is a lot of information crammed onto one page.  Hopefully they will be self explanatory, but feel free to call or make an appointment with me for further explanation and discussion.  Sometimes these are complex principles that are being simplified for elementary age children.  Oftentimes, as Dr. Martin Seligman has taught, even though they have memorized the principles they won’t fully understand until they are developmentally able.  Still, learning them sooner will also help them see that the principles work and they will consequently develop sooner!!

You will find they are helpful for adults and children alike.  The whole family will benefit.

Great book/article and website references for your study that will explain the lessons are as follows:
The Optimistic Child:  Dr. Martin Seligman
Bullying at School:  Dr. Dan Olweus
Love is Greater than Hate:  Dr. Brooks Gibbs
The Development of Children’s Friendships:  Dr. John Gottman
Think Social:  Michelle Garcia Winner
Threatened Egotism:  Dr. Roy Baumeister (article link:  http://persweb.wabash.edu/facstaff/hortonr/articles%20for%20class/Bushman%20and%20Baumeister.pdf)
